(Raymond Neupert, WRN) Senator Tammy Baldwin wants House Republicans to find a new Speaker sooner rather than later.

Senator Tammy Baldwin wants House Republicans to find a new Speaker sooner rather than later. The Wisconsin Democrat says Congress can't afford to wait. "We have the year-long funding bills to get to and the Senate has been working in a very bipartisan manner to produce our bills. They are ready to go. But we need a partner to work with in terms of leadership on the other side of the Capitol."

Baldwin is hoping the House can pick a new Speaker before the end of a stop-gap budget plan. The Wisconsin Democrat doesn't have anyone in mind, though. "It is up to the House of Representatives and in particular, the Republican majority to elect their new leader, and we hope that they will do that in an expeditious manner. Because we have a lot of work to do."

A far right faction of House Republicans forced former Speaker Kevin McCarthy out of his position on Tuesday after the House passed a budget stop-gap measure.
