(Mike Leischner, WSAU) A former Wausau substitute teacher was found not guilty of two counts of felony sexual assault after a three-day trial.
According to Mike Leischner with WSAU, court records show Zachary Robins was cleared by a 12-person jury on Thursday morning, following which the court granted a request for dismissal by the defense team. Robins had been accused of a Class B felony for inappropriately touching two students while he was working as a sub in a Wausau elementary school.
He previously told investigators that he meant one of the acts as a joke, but later regretted the action. The jury deliberated for about 50 minutes before returning with the not guilty verdict.
