Neillsville School Board Approves Early Graduation Requests, Field Trips, and More

The Neillsville School Board heard a couple updates at their meeting on Monday.

New staff members were introduced to the board. Lance Gregorich from CESA 10, and Building and Grounds Director Mark Spencer, presented a building projects update. The Board also approved the Kindness in Community Club as presented.

The Board also approved two early graduation requests, an out-of-state field trip for the high school choir to attend the Dorian Vocal Festival as presented, and the out-of-state trip from the high school choir to perform in Florida March 20-27, 2024, as presented.

The Board also approved the WPEN membership as presented, and approved the monetary donation of $500 from Gross Motors of Neillsville as presented. In employment matters, the Board approved the resignation of Cody Friemoth from his wrestling coaching position as presented.

The Board approved the hiring, as presented, of Eric Moltzen for a teaching assistant position, Ashley Vine for the head high school coaching position, and Brian Waters as the High Quiz Bowl advisor.

The Board also approved the modification in hours for Anastasia-Stacee Dawson as presented, approved the bonus for maintenance and custodial staff with modifications as presented, and approved the bonus for elementary teaching staff as presented. The Board also approved the initial adoption of Policy JI as presented.

The Board also heard the Administrators’ Reports. Elementary Principal Marcy Kunze reported on:

  • Staff training in August;
  • Attendance;
  • The start of the school year;
  • PBIS Committee;
  • Warrior of the Week;
  • Reading instruction;
  • Seal-A-Smile Program;
  • And upcoming events.

Middle School Principal Kory Poeschel reported on:

  • Attendance;

  • New staff members;
  • Phone policy;
  • Climate/culture continuation;
  • Fall sports;
  • Custodial thank you;
  • And upcoming events.

High School Principal Craig Anderson reported on:

  • Attendance;
  • Athletics;
  • Open campus participation;
  • Homecoming schedule;
  • Student council;
  • Highground Education Days;
  • Guidance update;
  • Prom planning;
  • And a summer staff thank you.

District Administrator John Gaier reported on:

  • The new Family Handbook;
  • The upcoming Cory Greenwood presentation;
  • Community Eligibility Provision;
  • WASB region 5 meeting and Sue Voigt’s level four recognition;
  • And the Neillsville Improvement Corporation agenda.
