(Robin Colbert, WRN/WIBA) A state website devoted to taking tips about school safety concerns gets some credit in a recent arrest near Madison.
A former student in the Monona Grove School District was charged in Dane County Court on Tuesday with making felony terrorist threats after some concerning posts on Snapchat. Authorities said at least two tips about 18 year old Emma Hardiman came through the Wisconsin Department of Justice's Speak Up, Speak Out portal.
The site allows tipsters to anonymously submit information on potential school threats for evaluation by safety experts 24/7. On Sunday, Hardimann used Monona Grove High School as her backdrop, while she stood with a knife and said she "may become the next shooter".
Hardimann reportedly told authorities she made the threats in response to being bullied.
