Whether or not you believe global warming is a real threat, more people seem interested in renewable sources of energy lately.Don Wichert of Wisconsin Focus on Energy was our guest on In Depth Thursday morning.
His agency is a good first stop for businesses or individuals interested in conserving energy, using solar energy, wind energy or other renewable sources.
"The mission is to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels, while improving the environment and our local economy," Wichert says.
Imagine a day when you could live completely "off the grid", generating your own power from renewable sources.
Admittedly, it would be difficult to do today, but renewable sources of power are becoming more viable.
"Right now, with the government incentives, you start putting those all together, there's a payback of 10 to 20 years," Wichert says. "Is that a good payback? It all depends."
Still, a lot of people are interested.
"We have never been more busy than we are right now. On solar electric, the applications and the number of systems going in are doubling about every year," Wichert notes.
