Man Charged in Connection to Wildfires in Jackson County

A man has been charged in connection to wildfires that occurred in Jackson County.
On August 17th, 44-year-old Daniel Johnson was arrested in connection to multiple wildfires that occurred on private and public land in Jackson County. An investigation determined that Johnson may be connected to more than 50 wildfires that are believed to be deliberately set since April of 2023.
The damage caused by the fires ranged from just a few feet in diameter to 16 acres. While searching Johnson’s home, investigators found over four pounds of “green leafy substance” that tested positive for THC.
Johnson is facing eight counts of intentionally set fire to another’s land and one count of possession of THC - 2nd subsequent offense. A $10,000 cash bond is set for Johsnon and he’s scheduled to be back in court on September 25th.
