Bill Would Start School in Wisconsin Before Labor Day
Wednesday, August 30th, 2023 -- 9:00 AM
(Ted Ehlen, WRN) A proposal in the Wisconsin legislature could start school before Labor Day.
The Republican-backed bill would allow school districts to start classes the Monday before Labor Day without approval from the state Department of Public Instruction. Currently, the academic year can't start until September 1st unless an exception is granted.
The measure would also give students the Friday before Labor Day off for weekend family celebrations. The bill is being circulated for co-sponsors.
