GRANTON TEACHER IN RUNNING FOR NATIONAL HONOR

A Granton teacher is one of six educators from Wisconsin vying for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching.Lorna Vazquez teaches mathematics at Granton High School.
The nominees submitted a video of their classroom teaching, a written description of their instructional program, resume and other information.
Vasquez's application is now forwarded to the national level where a committee will choose up to 108 recipients from around the country to be honored as a Presidential Teaching Award winner. They'll receive $10,000, and a trip to Washington D.C.
The awards were established in 1983 to improve the image of math and science teachers.
