Wood County Man Sentenced to Life in Prison for Producing Child Pornography

A Wood County man has been sentenced for producing child pornography.
According to an indictment on two occasions between November 2021 and April 2023, Brian McDowell of Hewitt used a minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing a visual depiction of the conduct.
The charges against him are the result of an investigation by the Wood County Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Taylor Kraus is handling the prosecution.
On Friday, McDowell was found guilty of repeated sexual assault of the same child, child sexual exploitation, 1st degree child sexual assault, five counts of possession of child pornography, causing a child under 13 to view/listen to a sex act, and exposing genitals to a child. McDowell was sentenced to life in prison.
