Monday, January 14th, 2008 -- 1:58 PM

A whirlwind process that will culminate with area students performing The Adventures of Robinson Crusoe Saturday gets underway Monday afternoon in the Neillsville Auditorium.

The Missoula Children's Theatre is rolling into to town.

They planned auditions to select the cast of 50 area kindergarten through 12th graders. Over the next several nights, those chosen will rehearse 4 ? hours a day before hosting two performances on Saturday.

Tina Opelt with the Neillsville Area Players says is the 3rd year they've sponsored the event.

"Missoula Children's Theatre is an organization based out of Missoula, Montana. They are professional actors who travel around the country in teams. They're here for a week. They bring all the makeup, costumes the set," Opelt explains. "It's totally amazing to see what they can do in just five days. It really is amazing."

Opelt says interest in the show has grown each year?and it's not just Neillsville kids participating.

"Last year we had 225 children audition, which shows there is just a huge interest and great need in the surrounding communities," Opelt says. "We've had children audition from Greenwood, Loyal, Granton, Chili, Pittsville. They come from all over the place."

The audition starts at 4 p.m. this afternoon. The performances of Robinson Crusoe are slated for Saturday at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.
