A Waushara County dairy producer has been chosen by his peers to lead the state's largest farm organization.
Kevin Krentz of Berlin was elected president of the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation during the conclusion of the group's virtual annual meeting on Monday. He will also serve as head of Rural Mutual Insurance Company, both based in Madison. A WFBF board member since 2012, Kevin is president of Krentz Family Dairy, Inc., a 600 cow-cow dairy operation that grows 1,300 acres of crops. He also serves as president of the Wisconsin Livestock Identification Consortium board of directors and served on a state commission in 2010 to evaluate regulations on raw milk. Krentz succeeds Joe Bragger of Independence, who only served one year as the head of the organizations. In addition, Dave Daniels from Union Grove was re-elected vice president of the WFBF.
Meanwhile, delegates re-elected three board members to serve additional three-year terms. They include Bragger, Arch Morton Jr. of Janesville; and Rosie Lisowe from Chilton. Lynn Leahy of Plover will serve a one-year term as the chair of the Promotion and Education Committee; and Emily Johnson, Orfordville, will represent the Young Farmer and Agriculturist Committee. Other board members who were not up for re-election this year are Krentz; Daniels; Robert Nigh, Viroqua; Brian Preder, Weyauwega; Ryan Klussendorf, Medford; and Peter Kimball, Baldwin.
