Southern Route Riders Make Annual Stop at Clark County Humane Society During The Highground's Heroes Ride

For years now, a group of riders, named the Southern Route Riders, have departed from Cottage Grove near Madison to participate in The Highground’s Annual Heroes Ride.
This year marked the 39th annual ride. It is a fundraiser benefiting the Highground in Neillsville. As part of their tradition, the Southern Route Riders stop at Clark County Humane Society. This stop typically occurs on a Sunday, which is not a typical day the shelter is staffed for the public.
However, the team at Clark County Humane Society welcomes these do-gooders that have traveled over 150 miles. The doors are opened for them and awaiting them are treats of cold water, soda and ice cream.
Not to mention the use of clean restrooms and a short reprieve from the ride. The best part for the riders is getting to spend some time with the cats and dogs at Clark County Humane Society. It is their final stop before arriving at the Highground which is located just west of Neillsville.
