Beauty of Sunflowers at Auburndale High School
Tuesday, August 8th, 2023 -- 11:00 AM
If you happen to be in the neighborhood of the Auburndale High School, you’ll surely notice the 4.5 beautiful acres of sunflowers.
Auburndale High School Ag Teacher Mark Cournoyer says that sunflowers are a specialty crop, so they’re not common in Central Wisconsin. They take plenty of hard work to grow, but the outcome is fulfilling, he says.
He also says the field is a perfect photo opportunity and it’s nice to see the smiles on the faces of families that come through. Before even reaching the sunflowers, you’ll see a multitude of colorful zinnias; approximately 625,000 to be exact.
They’re also using the field as an opportunity to collect donations for Toys for Tots. On Saturday, August 12th at 7:30am, they’re having a “Yoga in the Sunflowers” event.
