Two Plane Crashes near EAA AirVenture

With the EAA Air show in Oshkosh ending today, a second plane crash was reported yesterday related to the event.
On Saturday at around 9:07 a.m. the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office received multiple 911 calls about an airplane that had crashed into Lake Winnebago. Initial reports from the US Coast Guard indicated that it was a T-6 Texan aircraft.
A man and woman were killed in the crash according to the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office. The man is believed to have been in his 20s and the woman in her 30s. No other identifying factors about the victims or cause of the crash are being released at this time.
On Thursday afternoon two people suffered minor injuries after their aircraft crashed in a corn field near Ripon.
The pilot and passenger were on the way to the EAA from South Bend, Indiana. The aircraft lost power and they attempted an emergency landing when the aircraft flipped upon impacting a cornfield. The pilot and passenger were transported to an area hospital and were treated and released.
