(Raymond Neupert, WRN) Legislative Democrats want to help people get necessary hygiene products more easily.
Legislative Democrats want to help people get necessary hygiene products more easily. Senate Minority Leader Melissa Agard says removing taxes from menstrual products will help those who need them stay healthy and happy.
"They will miss school, they will miss work, they'll compromise their dignity, they won't be able to recreate with their families, simply because the products that they need to care for their personal health are inaccessible or unavailable or cost prohibitive."
Agard says one step would be to remove the taxes from pads and tampons. "It makes no sense that Viagra, potato chips and KitKat bars are not taxed in Wisconsin, because they're considered to be necessities; where tampons and pads are because they're considered a luxury."
Agard also would like to see those products offered in public bathrooms so that anyone who needs them can access them, regardless of price.
