Abbotsford Man Arrested in Grant County for Speeding and Driving Without a CDL

An Abbotsford man was arrested in Grant County for speeding and driving a commercial vehicle without a CDL license.

Around 5:20pm on Tuesday, 18-year-old Rodrigo Lopez was driving on Hwy 61 in the Town of Liberty in a vehicle owned by Area Wide Concrete and Excavating LLC in Withee. A sheriff’s deputy saw Lopez traveling 91 mph in a 55mph zone.

He was also towing a two-axle trailer with a skid steer which had only one chain securing it to the trailer. The lights on the trailer also were not working. It was also discovered Lopez had no CDL license as well. Lopez was arrested and transported to the Grant County Jail.

A representative from Area Wide Concrete and Excavating LLC arrived at the sheriff’s office and posted bond for Lopez. The business was also cited for failure to display registration, operating a vehicle without stopping lights, and improper directional lighting.

The incident is under investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol.
