Marshfield Police Department Involved in High Speed Chase on Sunday

On Sunday, July 9th, a Marshfield officer attempted a traffic stop on a gray Dodge Avenger for a stop sign violation.
The vehicle increased its speed to elude the officer. The pursuit went north on Veterans Parkway (State Highway 13) to Spencer. A tire deflation device was utilized; however, the pursuit was terminated after visual sight of the vehicle was lost.
A perimeter of the area was set up (Clark County Sheriff’s Department, Marathon County Sheriff’s Department, Wood County Sheriff's Department, State Patrol and Spencer Police Department assisted) and two searches for the suspect ensued. The vehicle was later located and the suspect was arrested in Spencer. The suspect, a 23-year-old Wausau man, was transported to Marathon County Jail.
The suspect had multiple Marathon County warrants as well as a Department of Corrections Warrant. A request for charges will be forwarded to the Marathon County District Attorney’s Office for Felony Fleeing, 1st Degree Recklessly Endanger Safety and Felony Possession of THC.
A request for charges will be forwarded to the Wood County District Attorney’s Office for Felony Fleeing and 2nd Degree Recklessly Endanger Safety. This is all the information that will be released at this time.
