Local Students Selected to Receive Dr. Jung K. Park Legacy for Learning Scholarship

Kaycee Schultz of Assumption High School and Marci Feidt and Emily Friday of Lincoln High School have been chosen as the recipients of this year’s Dr. Jung K. Park Legacy for Learning Scholarship.
The scholarship was established in honor of Dr. Jung K. Park, a man of great wisdom, strength, and generosity. Dr. Park proudly served the Wisconsin Rapids community as a skilled pathologist for more than 35 years.
Dr. Park was born in Korea, near the border of China. His sophomore year of college, he was offered a scholarship to continue his studies in the United States. Fulfilling his lifelong dream, Dr. Park traveled to the US with just $50 in his pocket.
Through his own hard work and the support of others, Dr. Park completed his medical training and, in 1970, moved to Wisconsin Rapids and established his clinical practice, thus granting our community access to pathology.
In honor of his extraordinary life, Dr. Park’s family established this scholarship through the Aspirus Riverview Foundation. Three $1,000 scholarships are awarded each year to support local high school students pursuing a career in any field of study, with special consideration given to students who are immigrants or first-generation Americans.
Kaycee, Marci and Emily will be pursuing careers in global studies-humanitarian leadership, pharmacology, and radiation therapy, respectively. Each scholarship recipient detailed in their application what led them to choose their career path, and each shared a common purpose of helping others and giving back to their community.
Dr. Park’s great success was made possible through his dedicated work ethic, value of education, and the support of those who believed in his potential. This scholarship brings Dr. Park’s story full circle and beautifully carries on his legacy. We cannot wait to see what remarkable futures lie ahead for these scholarship recipients.
