Wausau Man Charged with Killing his Girlfriend Scheduled to go to Trial

A Wausau man charged with killing his girlfriend is scheduled to go to trial in January of next year.
According to court records, 26-year-old Umberto Lo is charged in the murder of 30-year-old Mai Rue “Lily” Vang on March 21st. Vang was killed by a gunshot in the Wausau apartment she shared with Lo. Lo allegedly called a family member asking them to pick up his children, even sending a photo of Vang’s fatal injury.
The relative called 911 and Lo was arrested without incident. The children were not harmed in the incident. Lo allegedly believed that Vang was cheating on him. He’s in the Marathon County Jail on a $1 million cash bond. He’s scheduled to go to trial starting January 22nd of 2024.
