(Raymond Neupert, WRN) Democrat Governor Tony Evers says he's holding off on any veto decisions on the state budget until it comes to his desk.

Democrat Governor Tony Evers says he's holding off on any veto decisions on the state budget until it comes to his desk. Speaking on WISN's Upfront, Evers says he has concerns with the budget as it comes out of the legislative joint finance committee."The fact of the matter is, there's lots of time left, the budget has not been concluded. And so I'll kind of wait to see what it looks like."

Evers says proposed cuts to the UW-System aren't what he wants to see. "The fact of the matter is they need more money and one of the most important ways to create talent in our workforce. And so I think people are waking up on this issue."

Evers says he wants to see what the State Senate and Assembly do with the budget once they start their debate. "I am hopeful that the sanity will prevail in this process. And that we'll have, we'll have a good budget that I can sign."

The legislature's joint finance committee finished up work on the budget last week and Republicans included cuts to the UW-System alongside over 4 billion dollars in tax cuts and an increase in shared revenue with local communities.
