Athens Man Connected to Fatal Meth Lab Blast Charged

(Alisa Nelson, WRN) An Athens man is charged for his alleged role in operating a meth lab.
Matthew Zarins faces a count of homicide by negligent use of a dangerous weapon and four other charges related to manufacturing meth. In January, 51-year-old Jennifer Johnson of Stanley died from injuries suffered in the explosion of the meth lab in the town of Maplehurst.
Prosecutors filed charges against the 50-year-old Zarins in May. Zarins, who denied any involvement in the manufacturing of meth according to a criminal complaint, remains in custody on a $40,000 cash bond.
