Wood County Authorities Investigate Hit & Run

On June 16, 2023 at 10:43 A.M. the Wood County Sheriff's Department received a report of a vehicle vs. pedestrian hit and run with injuries in the 4100 block of George Rd, township of Seneca.

Sheriff's Department personnel discovered that an adult female was walking with a small child on the shoulder of the road, when the adult female was struck from behind and suffered injuries. The child was not injured.

The adult female was conscious and speaking. Life Link medevac airlifted this female to Marshfield Medical Center. A chrome vehicle part was observed at the scene and is believed to be a part from the passenger side mirror (cover).

The part number indicates it possibly came from a Ford F-150 or F-250, model years 2015 to 2020, dual arm pedestal mirror. The Wood County Sheriff’s Department is currently reviewing multiple sources of video footage from the area.

The individual operating the striking vehicle is encouraged to do the right thing and turn themselves in at the Wood County Sheriff's Department.

The Wood County Sheriff's Department is assisted in this investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol, Wisconsin Rapids Police Department, and the Port Edwards Police Department. Wood County Rescue, United Ambulance Service, Life Link Medevac, and Port Edwards Fire Department assisted at the scene, as well as two Good Samaritan passersby.
