The Marshfield School Board held a lengthy discussion on recognition of Salutatorian and Valedictorian.

The District doesn’t officially recognize the top two positions during graduation like some Districts do. This stems from decisions and discussion made back in the early 2000’s.

A few students and residents spoke in favor of the District changing the rules and to begin recognizing both positions again. No action was taken on the item, but could be brought forward at a future meeting.

The board also approved the Coaching/Advisor Handbook, an Athletic Trainer Position, and had the first reading of the Professional Staff 2023-2024 Alternative Compensation Methods.

The Board also approved the Adjustments to Pay Rates for Summer Custodial Workers and awarded the naming rights to the Marshfield High School Field House to Fredrick Construction for a year at a cost of $8,500.

The Board also approved the preliminary Budget of 2023-24 and approved to accept the America's Farmers Grow Communities Grant in the amount of $5,000.

  • Student Anti-Harassment,
  • Facility Security,
  • Environmental Health and Safety Program,
  • Control of Casual-Contact Communicable Diseases,

  • And Patriotic Activities and Observances.

The Board also heard Vol. 32, No. 1 Technical Corrections. The Board also approved retirements, resignations, and new personnel. They approved a shared services contract with the Greenwood School District for a student to use some Marshfield programs.

Finally, the Board approved the WIAA middle and high school memberships and approved a student to travel to Dallas, Texas for the HOSA International Leadership Conference.
