Fast Tracked Overhaul of State Liquor Regulations has Wedding Barn Operators Worried

(Bob Hague, WRN) Language that would require most wedding barn and event venues to have a liquor license is part of a fast-tracked overhaul of Wisconsin's liquor laws.

An Assembly committee voted 12 to 2 to pass the bill Thursday, just two days after a public hearing at which wedding barn operators raised major concerns over language that would require them to obtain a liquor license or operate as they do now only if they host fewer than six events a year and no more than one per month.

Many wedding barns serve as a secondary source of income for Wisconsin farms.
