Wausau Man Accused of Killing an Ex-Girlfriend Scheduled for Trial

(Mike Leischner, WSAU) A Wausau man accused of killing an ex girlfriend has been scheduled for trial early next year.

Umberto Lo will face a 12-person jury beginning January 22nd and running through the 31st. Investigators say he shot Mai Rue Vang following an argument at her home in the spring of 2021.

Vang, also known as Lily, had a restraining order against Lo at the time of the incident- and court records indicate that the judge has cross referenced a series of other cases in with the homicide count- including a charges of strangulation or suffocation in a domestic abuse setting.

Lo has pled not guilty to the homicide charge- if found guilty he faces a mandatory life sentence.
