Wisconsin Legislature Rejects Meningitis Vaccine Requirement
Friday, June 9th, 2023 -- 8:01 AM
(Ted Ehlen, WRN) The Wisconsin Legislature Wednesday turned down a requirement that seventh graders be vaccinated against meningitis.
On a party-line vote, both the Senate and Assembly voted to block the proposal from Governor Evers’ administration. In addition, the vote also eased the way for parents to exempt their child from a chicken pox vaccine that’s required for students from kindergarten through sixth grade.
The Evers administration was looking to have parents provide proof that their child has previously been infected with chicken pox prior to asking for the exemption.
