MARATHON CO. OFFICER INVESTIGATED FOR OWI

An off-duty Marathon County sheriff's deputy crashed his car during a drunken driving accident in a Wausau suburb last week.Deputy Kent Johnson walked away from the scene and called a co-worker, who called his boss and sent a Kronenwetter police officer to investigate.
The 39-year-old Johnson was arrested, booked and released on operating while intoxicated, failing to report a crash and open intoxicant charges.
He's due in municipal court for an initial appearance next month.
The sheriff's department put Johnson on paid administrative leave.
