Wisconsin Rapids Man Killed in Adams County Crash

On Monday, May 22, 2023, at approximately 6:48pm, Adams County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the 500 block of CTH D, Township of Leola, Adams County, WI for a report of a one vehicle roll over that was predominately submerged in the drainage ditch on the northside of CTH D.

Upon arrival, a deputy entered the water in an attempt to check for an occupant. The deputy was unable to open the doors and the windows were closed. Once on scene, the Waushara Fire Dept. attempted to breach the floor of the vehicle but were unsuccessful.

A passing tow company assisted in removing the vehicle from the water. Once the vehicle was out of the water, a lone male occupant was located inside the vehicle. The male occupant was identified as 34 year old Michael Krey, of Wisconsin Rapids.

Life saving measures were attempted but were unsuccessful and Michael was pronounced deceased at the scene. Alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor in the crash.

The Adams County Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by Waushara Fire and EMS, Town of Rome Fire Dept, Bentz Towing, Tom-Lin Towing, the Adams County Medical Examiner's Office and the Town of Rome Police Dept.

This crash remains under investigation. No further information will be released at this time.
