Thursday, November 29th, 2007 -- 11:44 AM
A deer hunter managed to drive to an intersection and get help after accidentally shooting himself with his muzzleloader on private land in Eau Claire County. The sheriff's department said the accident happened Wednesday about 4 p.m. when the man dropped the gun and it fired, shooting him in the arm.
Sheriff's Sergeant Steve Miescke said the man apparently drove to the intersection about five miles away for better cell reception, and by the time the sergeant got there the man was out of his truck being helped by several people.
He says the man was taken to a hospital for treatment.
