Be Sure to Find a Reputable Moving Company for Your Moves This Summer

(Raymond Neupert, WRN) Moving homes can be stressful, and you can reduce that stress by researching reputable moving companies.

If you're planning a move this spring, research your moving company. State consumer protection advisor Michelle Reinen says there are a number of red flags for shady moving companies. 

"That could be that lack of information on a website, no address registration or insurance information, or they show up with a rented truck and have really no legitimate reason as to why it's a rented truck as opposed to something with their company logo and label on it."

Moving homes can be stressful, and you can reduce that stress by researching reputable moving companies. Reinen says you should get everything in writing before you load anything on a truck or sign a check. "That estimate, any contract or documents you have to sign, be sure it has details. Don't sign those blank documents."

Before you sign a contract with a home moving company this spring, do your research. Reinen says there are genuine concerns when it comes to picking the wrong company. "They may require a deposit and then never show up for the move, or load your belongings into their truck and then just disappear, stealing everything."
