Mid-State Honors Spring 2023 Paramedic Students
Monday, May 22nd, 2023 -- 1:00 PM
Mid-State Technical College honored its spring 2023 paramedic students who have completed their core courses in a special May 17 ceremony on the Wisconsin Rapids Campus.
The 17 students have met the state of Wisconsin licensing requirements and are eligible to participate in the National Registry examination required to practice as a paramedic. Some of the students have graduated upon this completion, while others may have coursework left to complete before they are eligible for graduation.
“Finishing the paramedic core program is a commendable accomplishment,” said Rick Anderson, associate dean of the School of Protective & Human Services. “The two semesters of core classes are rigorous, and they demand a lot of the students’ time outside of the classroom to complete their hospital clinical and ambulance field experiences. The paramedic core program is both demanding and rewarding, and I am proud of everyone for their perseverance.”
Mid-State’s Paramedic Technician and EMT-Paramedic programs prepare students to obtain the required licensure to be employed and practice as a paramedic in the state of Wisconsin.
The EMT-Paramedic program consists solely of the 38 credits in the paramedic core requirements, while the Paramedic Technician associate degree program consists of two semesters of general education classes, as well as two semesters of core paramedic courses.
Some local students who completed Mid-State’s spring 2023 core paramedic program include:
- Destiny Amundson – Abbotsford,
- Elizabeth Downs – Wisconsin Rapids,
- Benjamin Glab – Marshfield,
- Zackary Gunning – Marshfield,
- Dillon Oates – Marshfield,
- Kayla Ratsch – Neillsville,
- Lily Ratsch - Pittsville,
- And Christopher White – Wausau.
