Neillsville School Board Hears Building and Grounds Update and More

The Neillsville School Board heard a building projects update.
Lance Gregorich from CESA 10, and Building and Grounds Director Mark Spencer, presented the building projects update. The Board also approved the contract with Wendel Companies and approved a resolution authorizing entry into an intergovernmental cooperation agreement relating to the “Wisconsin Investment Series Cooperative” and authorizing participation in the investment programs of the fund as presented.
The Board also approved the 6th grade math curriculum update as presented, approved the early graduation request from a student as presented, approved the Warriors Chess Club application as presented, and approved the donation of pizzas from Julie Simek and Jake Ormond in honor of Teacher Appreciation Week as presented.
In employment matters, the board approved the hiring of Amber Irwin for the teaching assistant position, Amy Thoma for the 2nd grade teaching position, Amanda Kosar for the 2nd grade teaching position, Kimberly Rakovec for the middle school ELA teaching position, and Alycia Zickert for the middle school social studies teaching position.
They also approved the hiring of Riley Anderson as the assistant volleyball coach, Natalie Walsh as the middle school volleyball coach, Chelsea Opelt for the elementary school student council advisor position, and Jill Neville for the Friends of Rachel (FOR) Club advisor as presented.
The Board also approved the wage adjustment for Esmeralda Recendez and the wage adjustment to step 8 for Shannon Funston. Finally the Board approved the retirement of Brenda Bredlau from her 2nd grade teaching position as presented and approved the initial adoption of Policy IGBCA-A as presented.
The Board also heard the Administrators’ Reports. Elementary Principal Marcy Kunze reported on:
- Attendance;
- 4K enrollment for 2023-24;
- PBIS;
- Renovation preparations;
- Star Lab;
- Elementary school music concerts;
- Elementary meet and greet day;
- 4K graduation;
- Needs assessment and data meetings;
- The last day of school;
- And the end of the year mailing.
Middle School Principal Kory Poeschel reported on:
- Attendance;
- Character trait of the month;
- Field trips;
- Friends of Rachel Club update;
- 8th grade TLC guidance lesson update;
- Middle school chorus award concert date change;
- Middle school student council update;
- 5th grade student transition to middle school update;
- 8th grade graduation;
- Last day of school;
- And summer school dates.
High School Principal Craig Anderson reported on:
- Attendance;
- BLAST event update;
- Forensics update;
- Junior Achievement Titan Business Challenge;
- STEM activity;
- Music department updates;
- Guidance office updates;
- And graduation-related information.
Finally, District Administrator John Gaier reported on the new WASB executive director.
