(Bob Hague, WRN) The Wisconsin Supreme Court has affirmed a crime victim rights law.
The 6-1 ruling released Tuesday ensures that "Marsy's Law" will stand. That overturned a Dane County judge’s decision that the ballot description of the amendment overwhelmingly approved in a statewide referendum two years ago failed to adequately inform voters of its impact on the rights of criminal defendants.
Liberal Justice Anne Walsh Bradley dissented. She said the description should have explained that the amendment allowed victims to avoid interviews and evidence requests. Victim rights group Marsy’s Law for Wisconsin praised the ruling.
