DNR RENEWS CALL FOR WILD PIG HARVEST

Wisconsin's gun-deer season starts Saturday morning.Kim Nelson manages Mary's Mobil in Neillsville. They sell licenses and register deer. License sales really picked up Friday.
The opening weekend is always busy.
"Last year we did 560 deer on Saturday and seven hundred and something on Sunday," Nelson says. They have about four extra helpers for the weekend.
Meanwhile, the DNR wants you to know we have a pig problem? and you can help.
Wild?or feral?pigs are known to roam the woods here in Clark County. They are a nuisance and are believed to spread diseases, like pseudorabies, which turned up on a couple hog farms over the summer.
For these reasons, wildlife officials want hunters to take them out.
"We've had some reports of pigs in Clark and Jackson County," says Michelle Windsor of the DNR's Black River Falls office. "Keep your eyes open. If you see one, especially on public land, they're not supposed to be there and we ask you to remove them from the landscape."
Hunters can also shoot them on private property, as long as they have permission to be there.
"All we're asking from the hunters is that if they do shoot one, let us know immediately. They can keep the animal, but we ask if we can get a blood sample for disease testing," Windsor says.
So, you can have a little bacon with your venison.
You'll see "wanted" posters for the pigs at registration stations.
