The man involved in a standoff in the Walmart parking lot in Marshfield was sentenced in Wood County Court.
According to the Marshfield Police Department, they received information from a member of the United Kingdom National Crime Agency at the end of January regarding conversations from an online profile linked to Theodore Trahern that talked about sexual acts against a child done by the user.
Marshfield Police contacted Trahern and searched his truck. They found an iPad and phone allegedly containing 37 pictures and two videos of child pornograpy. Eventually, when police approached Trahern with the evidence, he refused to exit his truck.
He said his life was over and had nothing left to live for. He then showed a knife to officers. Officers called for backup and established a perimeter. Eventually, Trahern surrendered peacefully.
Back in December, Trahern was found guilty of, due to a no contest plea, two counts of possession of child pornography. Several other charges were dismissed and read in. He was sentenced to five years in prison and seven years of extended supervision.
