Brockway Woman Enters Plea for Homicide Charge

A Brockway woman charged with homicide appeared in Jackson County Court.
According to the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office, on September 9th of 2021, law enforcement responded to a report of a man bleeding on his neighbor’s doorstep. The man later died at the hospital due to a stabbing wound.
It was determined that the man’s domestic partner, 54-year-old Kellie Schmidt, had stabbed the man with a filet knife. During Schmidt’s court appearance, was found guilty of, due to a no contest plea, first degree reckless homicide.
Even with the plea, Schmidt is still scheduled for a jury trial starting May 8th. However, a sentencing is scheduled for September 15.
