Bipartisan Bill Would Prohibit Open Alcohol Containers on ATVs and UTVs

(Ryan Brahm, WOMT/WRN) A bipartisan bill aims to reduce the number of ATV crashes in Wisconsin.

Senator Andre Jacque and fellow Republican Representative Jeff Mursau are joined by Democratic Representatives Deb Andraca and Lori Palmeri on the bill which would prohibit open alcohol containers in or on ATVs and UTVs.

The group noted in their release that more than 80 people in Wisconsin died in ATV crashes involving alcohol in the six years leading up to 2021. Current law allows the carrying of open alcohol containers on these vehicles, but this bi-partisan measure would end that.

Current law also prohibits the operation of an ATV or UTV by a person who has an alcohol concentration of 0.08 or more.
