Marathon County Sheriff's Department Warns of Scam

The Marathon County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center has received an increased number of phone calls from citizens saying they have received a phone call from deputies informing them they have warrants and must report to the Sheriff’s Office or they will face fines.

They want to remind you that the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office does not call you to let you know you have active warrants, and we won’t request or threaten you with fines.

If this happens to you, do not provide personally identifiable information to the caller, financial information, or payment of any kind. This includes banking information or gift cards from retailers.
