STATE: SHOOT OUR WILD PIGS, PLEASE
Thursday, November 1st, 2007 -- 1:36 PM
State wildlife and agriculture officials have a message for Wisconsin hunters this fall: blast the pigs. The Department of Natural Resources and the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection say the pigs destroy the environment and crops and spread disease.
The DNR typically asks deer hunters every fall to kill the hairy, rude porkers, but this year the two agencies are stepping up their campaign after a pseudorabies outbreak in Clark County this past spring.
State officials are asking hunters to shoot as many pigs as they see, and then call a warden so the carcasses can be tested for disease.
