City of Marshfield's New "No Mow May" Initiative
Tuesday, April 11th, 2023 -- 10:00 AM
The City of Marshfield invites residents to explore their new No Mow May initiative.
No Mow May aims to provide an early foraging season for native pollinators. They do this by reducing our mowing and chemical applications to our lawns. By doing so, they increase the number of native plants, which are excellent food sources for pollinators.
By not mowing and treating with chemicals, they improve insect habitats for those that are still in diapause (a type of hibernation) in early spring. Weed growth in May is particularly important, as many spring blooms have not emerged.
You can check out our new webpage and register your property for No Mow May.
