Black River Falls Man Sentenced for New Year's Day Shooting

A man arrested for firing a gun in the City of Black River Falls was sentenced in Jackson County Court.
According to the Black River Falls Police Department, around 1:54am on New Year’s Day of 2022, they were called to the 200 block of North 14th Street. Roy Thompson was allegedly running around at the location with a handgun and shooting. Thompson was arrested by the authorities after he attempted to run.
Thompson was found guilty of, due to a no contest plea, 1st degree recklessly endangering safety and convicted out of state felon in possession of a firearm. Several other charges were dismissed and read in. He was sentenced to 7.5 years of probation with a condition of one year jail time.
