CLARK CO. ANIMAL ORDINANCE USED
Tuesday, October 30th, 2007 -- 11:38 AM
It didn't take long for a new Clark County ordinance to be put to use.Earlier this month, the county board gave their final approval to an ordinance making it "unlawful for any animal owner to allow his domesticated animals to run at-large upon public property? or private property of others?" without consent.
Captain Rich Englebretson of the Clark County Sheriff's Department says they've already issued three citations. Two of the citations went to the same pig owner in the Town of Thorp.
Englebretson says neighbors have complained about the animals for years, but until the ordinance was passed, they could do nothing about it. The farmer was fined $186 for the first offense and $249 for the second.
The citation applies to repeat offenders.
