2 NEILLSVILLE STUDENTS EXPELLED

Two Neillsville juniors have been expelled after shooting fellow students with a bee-bee gun-style weapon. It happened early this month on school property. One boy had a bee-bee pistol, the other had a bee-bee rifle and were allegedly shooting from a vehicle traveling through a school parking lot.
Two boys returning to the school after football practice were shot and suffered small lacerations.
A subsequent investigation found a cased, unarmed shotgun in the vehicle--a violation of state law.
Last night, the school board held two expulsion hearings and voted to expel each of the students.
Administrator John Gaier says statute dictates school administration recommend a year expulsion in cases involving firearm possession.
The board decided to allow the students to reenter school at the beginning of the second semester, and allow them to keep up with their credits so they can still graduate on time.
