Lincoln Fire and Rescue Department Responds to Fire at Central Feeds

The Lincoln Fire and Rescue Department responded to a fire at Central Feeds.
According to the Department, they received the call of the fire on March 20th around 7:48am. When they arrived, there was thick, black smoke coming from the structure. When the Department entered the building the found flames around a diesel power unit for a feed grinder.
It was determined the fire was caused by the malfunctioning diesel unit. A diesel fuel tank suppling the unit was shut down. The fire was extinguished and the building was ventilated. 100-150 gallons of diesel fuel was contained by firefighters.
Three cats were also rescued from the building and turned over to their owners. The building sustained heavy smoke and soot damage. The diesel unit received heavy fire damage. The feed mill is not operational.
