Neillsville Chamber of Commerce Holds Annual Recognition Dinner
Monday, March 20th, 2023 -- 12:01 PM
The Neillsville Chamber of Commerce held their Annual Recognition Banquet on Saturday at the Neillsville American Legion.
The non-profit Smiling for Samuel received the Spotlight Award. Smiling for Samuel helps support families who suffer infant and child loss and also parents going through the journey of Trisomy 18, a disorder where a baby is born with three copies of chromosome 18 instead of the usual 2.
They have held fundraisers that have provided funds for numerous projects including a yearly scholarship, memory boxes, vouchers, and their I Knew You in the Womb memorial at the Neillsville City Cemetery.
The Entrepreneur of the Year award went to Mama G’s Consignment. Mama G’s Consignment, owned and run by Amy Gerhardt, started as a spring consignment sale, leading to a fall consignment sale, leading to a December pop up shop, eventually leading to being open the past 15 months. Any unsold items in the shop are donated to local charities like the House of Mercy in Loyal, Hope Gospel in Eau Claire, and others.
The Agri-Business of the Year went to Boon Farms, the host of last year’s Neillsville Chamber Dairy Breakfast. The Farm, currently owned by Brad and Kristine Boon, has over 1,400 owned and rented acres, 460 milking cows, and 13 employees. They have six millking robots and the farm produces over 15 million pounds of raw milk annually.
Finally, the Business of the Year Award went to Unity Bank. Unity Bank is a family-owned $603 million asset bank with 16 locations across Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Montana. They believe investment in the community is an integral part of their business and an essential part in contributing to the growth of their communities.
