Wednesday, October 10th, 2007 -- 3:04 PM
A controversial ethanol plant planned for Sparta won't be built next to a food processing plant.Century Foods International and Coulee Area Renewable Energy (CARE) say they've reached a settlement by which CARE will no longer pursue the construction of an ethanol plant next to Century Foods.
Century Foods manufactures milk-based products and had feared the ethanol plant's emissions would contaminate their products.
"CARE remains committed to providing good-paying jobs and a home-grown fuel source for the Coulee Region," CARE Board President David Rundahl in the release. "This agreement will allow us to move forward with our mission.
CARE is looking at another location for the ethanol plant.
