Wisconsin Cheese Takes Gold At US Championship

(Ted Ehlen, WRN) Wisconsin shines in the top cheese competition in the country.
The Dairy State takes home the most gold medals at the 2023 U.S. Championship Cheese Contest in Green Bay Tuesday and Wednesday, placing two of the top three cheeses.
The first runner-up cheese was a hard raw milk variety from Door Artisan Cheese Company of Egg Harbor in Door County, while the second runner-up was a medium cheddar made for Associated Milk Producers Incorporated of Blair.
Wisconsin had 54 Best of Class finishes, but the “big cheese” that placed first in the competition was an aged gouda from a Connecticut cheesemaker who is originally from the south-central Wisconsin community of Monticello.
