NEILLSVILLE CHAMBER ENCOURAGING LOCAL SHOPPING
Thursday, October 4th, 2007 -- 2:07 PM
The Neillsville Chamber of Commerce is launching a campaign to get people to "buy local."Chamber Director Cindy Schwanz recently attended a statewide chamber conference. One of the ideas presented to generate more local revenue was a member-to-member discount program that the Neillsville Chamber is ready to try?
"Any discount that would be offered?is redeemable by the business owner and any of his or her employees," Schwanz explains.
For example, business could offer percentage discounts, by one get one free deals or service coupons, she explains.
Chamber members that want to participate must fill out a form and return it to the Chamber office by October 29.
It's up to each individual business owner to decide what discount they will give to other Chamber members.
"I did include on the member-to-member discount form some ideas, although it will be totally up to the businesses. There will be coupons that will printed and a listing of participating member businesses," Schwanz says.
The Chamber currently has 160 members. Many of those members have employees, so the discount program could be open to hundreds of people.
