Village of Kronenwetter Back to Square One in Regards to Full-Time, Permanent Administrator

Tuesday, February 21st, 2023 -- 9:00 AM

(Mike Leischner, WSAU) -The Village of Kronenwetter is back at square one in their search for a full-time, permanent Administrator after accepting the termination of Duane Gau's contract, the now-former interim Administrator citing family issues as his reason for leaving, according to Mike Leischner with WSAU.

"I know I can be gone a couple hours here and there, but I've got to be there more. I've got to be closer, taking care of her. She's got a pretty good accident. At least 12 weeks to get her back on her feet."

Village President Chris Voll says they have posted the job and are waiting for applicants. "Two three weeks process time for applicants to send in resumes and then schedule interviews. I'm hoping it goes kind of quickly."

Village President Chris Voll says the expectation of moving the Village forward hasn't changed, even though they continue to have instability at the top. "We're going to try and take every effort that we're doing the right thing and that we're not leaving ourselves open for any kinds of issues or situations that are going to put us into situations that will make it hard for us to move forward."

Voll says there's no reason for residents to panic in the short-term, even as current forecasts promise to test the Village's public works department this week. "They've been around for a little while. Chief will be interim, stepping in for some big decisions this week if anything comes up. Like if there's any issues with snowplowing or breakdowns. Chief will be around."

Police Chief Terry McHugh will be serving as the new interim administrator for now, Board members may also consider a proposal to name Trustee  Sean Dumais to the post during next week's meeting, which could be allowed on a temporary basis as long as he is not paid more than the equivalent of 15 thousand dollars annually. Gau, who had been in the post on a temporary contract through Public Administration Associates, thanked the board members before leaving Monday's meeting immediately after the vote was taken- saying it had been a pleasure to work with the community.
