The Marshfield School Board approved transferring funds into an escrow account to pay off remaining debt for an old referendum.

The Board authorized the transfer of funds to pay off remaining debt from a previous referendum. The debt is set to be paid off by 2026, but as the funds are available, the District wanted to pay off that debt beforehand. This authorizes the Board to create an escrow account, transfer the funds there, and pay off the remaining debt.

The Board also reviewed the Safe Return to In-Person Instruction and Continuity of Services Plan, which is required by the U.S. Department of Education every six months. In doing this, the District is able to access ESSER III funds provided to the State of Wisconsin by the federal government.

The Board also approved several donations including:

  • $2,800 to help purchase concrete equipment for a High School Construction class from Central WI Contractors Association;
  • And $6,000 to support student travel to the SMART Team competition in Seattle, WA from Alpa & Milind Shah.

For the Middle School, they approved:

  • $500 for supplies to make blankets for the Ronald McDonald House and host a student/teacher lunch from Merlin and Jeanne Denk through Thrivent.

For the High School:

  • $2,500 for the Blanchard AP Scholarship fund from Derek Blanchard;
  • And $150 for the Blanchard AP Scholarship fund.

For Lincoln Elementary:

  • Classroom snacks valued at $50 from Cornerstone Community Church;
  • Reading rewards for 5th grade students including:
  • 70, one-scoop dish or cone tokens valued at $209.30 from Culvers;
  • 40, free mini Blizzard bookmarks valued at $119.60 from Dairy Queen;
  • 29, free small fry coupons valued at $63.51 from McDonalds;
  • 12, free admission & skate rental coupons valued at $60 from Melody Gardens;
  • 67, free regular Freeze coupons valued at $227.13 from Taco Bell;
  • 20, free kid’s meal coupons valued at $79.80 from Perkins Restaurant;
  • 21, $5 fun zone arcade coupons valued at $105 from Pizza Ranch;
  • 4, one large 3 topping pizza coupons valued at $48 from Little Caesars.

For Madison Elementary:

  • Hats, mittens, scarves, socks and clothing items valued at $50 from Immanuel Lutheran Church of Hewitt.

For High School Athletics:

  • Girls Track & Field Program;
  • $2,000 from Wheelers Chevrolet GMC;
  • $500 from Fredrick Construction LLC, Ben Fredrick;
  • $500 from Security Overhead Door, Inc.;
  • $250 from Bevy Beauty Co, Alexis Free;
  • $250 from Marliss Trudeau;
  • $250 from Associated Sales & Leasing, Inc.;
  • $250.00 from Central WI Enterprises LLC, DBA Next Home Hub City.

The Board also approved policy updates and deletions; approved retirements, resignations, new personnel, and administrative appointments; and recognized the girls swim team for their accomplishments.

Also, a resident countered social media negativity regarding the school district and complimented the district on their hard work. She also thanked the District for their dedication to the LGBTQ community, but feels more could be done.
